Elections Timeline
Who will help lead AOTA into the future?
The 2027 AOTA Elections provide an opportunity for members to step forward as leaders, share their expertise, and help shape the direction of the Association and the profession for years to come.
The nomination period for the 2027 AOTA Elections opens on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11:59 a.m. ET (just before noon) and closes on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:59 a.m. ET (just before noon).
Serving in an elected position is more than a volunteer role. It is an opportunity to influence the future of occupational therapy, represent the voice of AOTA members, and help guide strategic decisions that advance the profession. Elected leaders bring diverse perspectives, experiences, and expertise to the important work of strengthening the Association and supporting practitioners, students, and the communities we serve.
Whether you are an experienced volunteer leader or considering elected service for the first time, we encourage you to explore the available positions and consider how your unique skills, experiences, and passions can contribute to AOTA's leadership.
We especially encourage those who may be thinking, “I’m not sure I'm ready" or “someone else is probably more qualified," to consider participating. Those are often the voices and perspectives that are needed most. Strong leadership comes from individuals with a variety of backgrounds, practice areas, career stages, and experiences.
Not Sure Where You Fit? Let's Talk.
The Volunteer Leadership Development Committee (VLDC) is committed to helping members find meaningful leadership opportunities. If you're considering running for office but aren't sure which position best matches your experience, interests, or goals, we encourage you to reach out. We'd be happy to talk through the opportunities with you and help you determine the best fit.
