Qualifications for Specific Positions:

To determine if you or your colleagues are eligible for the nomination process, please review the Volunteer Leadership Competencies Matrix and the criteria outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) or Job Description (JD) linked under each office on the 2025 Elected Positions tab.


Qualifications for All Association Elected Positions:

  • Shall have consistent access to a high-speed Internet connection and be comfortable working in a virtual communications environment. This includes opening, saving, editing, and sending attachments in e-mail and other electronic formats as needed.
  • Shall be a member in good standing of the Association and state affiliate at the time of nomination and throughout the term of office.
  • Shall have knowledge of and familiarity with the official documents of the Association (including Bylaws, policies, relevant SOP/JD, AOTA Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics, Administrative SOP, and Strategic Priorities).​  These documents are available on the Organizational Documents page of the AOTA Web site.
  • Shall not serve in any other position at the same time unless designated in a Standard Operating Procedure/Job Description or appointed to a smaller group of the body to which elected. 

In addition to the above criteria, please review the specific qualifications detailed in the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) or Job Description (JD) for each office, which can be found in the Association Procedural Manual on AOTA’s Web site. 

Note: Occupational Therapy Assistants are eligible to be nominated for all 2025 positions except the Occupational Therapy Academic Leadership Council (OT-ALC) Chairperson and Assembly of Student Delegates (ASD) OT Vice Chairperson positions.
