Eligibility & Membership

  • Do I need to be an AOTA member to submit a nomination?
    Yes, nominators must be current AOTA members.
  • Does the nominee need to be an AOTA member?
    Yes, nominees must be members in good standing of AOTA and their state affiliate.
  • Do nominees need to be occupational therapists?
    Both OT and OTA members in good standing are eligible. OT and OTA students may run for Assembly of Student Delegates (ASD) positions.
  • Can I nominate myself?
    Yes, self-nominations are allowed.

Nomination Process

  • Can I submit a confidential nomination?
    No. Nominees must accept the nomination, respond to required questions, and sign a statement of authenticity.
  • Can I submit multiple nominations for the same person?
    No. Additional nominations and letters of support are not accepted.
  • What should be included in the nomination?
    Required materials include:
    • CV or résumé
    • Responses to candidate questions
    • Proof of state affiliate membership
  • How do I know if the nominee meets the qualifications?
    Refer to the SOP or position description for each position in the Association Procedural Manual on AOTA’s website.

Candidate Profile & Submission

  • Where do I submit the candidate profile?
    Candidate Profile
    Submit by November 24, 2025. VLDC will notify qualified candidates before profiles are posted.
  • How can I print or save my nomination?
    Log into the submission site, click My Nominations, and download or print a PDF of your submission.

Candidacy & Campaigning

  • When can I start campaigning?
    Only after receiving written confirmation from VLDC in December.
  • When will the election slate be announced?
    After candidates are notified in December. A sample ballot and candidate statements will be published online.

Other Questions

  • Has the nominee ever received a public sanction?
    Nominees must disclose any public sanctions from the AOTA Ethics Commission, other Association bodies, or state OT/OTA licensure boards.
  • Is there an appeals process if a nominee is not qualified?
    No. Qualification decisions are based on SOP/position descriptions criteria and nomination materials.
